About this hiring process flowchart

A hiring flowchart shows candidates and interviewers what happens next, and shows hiring managers where time is lost. Every 'no' path ends in a rejection that should actually be sent.

The example covers a single role with a structured interview loop.

Step by step

  1. Define. Write the job description and a scorecard before posting.
  2. Source and screen. Screen applications against the scorecard; reject promptly.
  3. Interview. A phone screen, then a structured interview loop.
  4. Decide. A debrief decides; references follow for the chosen candidate.
  5. Offer. Declined offers send you back to the pipeline; accepted offers start onboarding.

How to make it in flow-chart.io

  1. Start from the example. Edit the text in the generator box above so it names your own interview stages, then press Generate. The free preview needs no sign-up.
  2. Add the branches. Add the decision points that matter for you, for example take-home exercise? or executive approval for the offer. Each decision becomes a diamond with labeled outcomes.
  3. Assign owners. Save the diagram to the editor (free account) and rename steps to show who does what: recruiter, hiring manager and interview panel.
  4. Share or export. Share a read-only view link: people with the link can view the diagram but not edit it. Downloads as PNG, SVG or PDF are part of Flow Pro (see pricing).
